Fleetwood Mac is back for their 2009 tour and putting on a show you will not want to miss in Dallas on 04-30
01-17-09 Fleetwood Mac is a British/American rock band formed in 1967 in London. The band began when Peter Green replaced a guitarist in the Bluesbreakers. He then asked drummer Mick Fleetwood to replace their former drummer. Later on, Green contacted Fleetwood to from a new band. They named the band Fleetwood Mac in hopes of enticing McVie to join the band; however that plan didn’t work out but kept the newfound name regardless. On August 13, 1967 Fleetwood Mac made their first appearance at the Windsor Jazz and blues Festival and within weeks, John McVie agreed to become the bassist for the band. Fleetwood Mac’s first self-entitled album was released in February 1968. The album was hugely successful in the U.K., but did not have nay singles. The band continued to make albums and finally came to the United States on January 1969. Then Play On was the bands first rock album, featuring only songs of Kirwan and Green. In 1969, Fleetwood Mac was the headliner of the Schaefer Music Festival in New York City’s Central park, launching their career in the US as well as in Europe. Fleetwood Mac hit mainstream success in 1975 with the release of their self-titled album Fleetwood Mac, which is occasionally known as the “White Album” due to its cover. The only member still present in the band from the very beginning is the drummer Mick Fleetwood. The two most successful periods for Fleetwood Mac were during the late 1960’s and when they were led by guitarist Peter Green. Fleetwood Mac is currently working on their next studio album soon to be released and will begin their 2009 tour starting in March.
